May 31st: Everything New. - A new day is ready to break out and like a bird you’ve been sleeping all night long, but it is time to get your out song book. A new day is getting ready to break and something new is coming. So write it down.

What changes are coming? Can you see them in the new day?

Assignment: Write down all the changes that take place in your life. They may not be immediate, over time look for changes. An example would be a new attitude, less irritable, etc.

May 30th: Weeping endures for a night. - Weeping endures for a night but joy comes in the morning. Somewhere between midnight and 12:01 a.m. night shifts into morning and although you don’t see it happening, God signals nature and at 12:01 your mourning is through.

Is your weeping at an end? Has joy come yet?

Assignment: Send an email to a close friend or family member alerting them that your mourning over a certain situation is over and that your joy is shining through. Ask them to pray for your continued joy.

May 29th: Remember. - Remind yourself that although you may be crying, you are not crying about what you used to cry over. You may be crying, but remind yourself that your tears are no longer tears of pain, suffering or frustration. You are now crying because you gave your burdens to the Lord and He has allowed you to witness His great love. God blessed you to come out, to come over, to come through what was standing in between you and God.

What kind of tears are you crying? Are they tears of relief or joy?

Assignment: Draft expression of the joy you feel in your heart.

May 28th: Focus, Focus, Focus. - Write it down because your memory is short and we have a tendency to focus on our troubles.

What are you focused on? Are you only focused on the negative aspects of your life?

Assignment: Write down everything surrounding this period in your life. Write down what you are going through and how it feels to go through it. Make sure you write down who has helped you through. Certainly God, but list any persons God may have placed in your path that may have said something to cheer you up or persons who may have shared their testimony, letting you know you would also make it. Remember to thank God and these persons for their obedience.

May 27th: Celebrate. - You can always tell an over-comer because over-comers understand celebration. They can clap their hands because it is a part of their celebration. They are not applauding themselves but clapping to the glory and honor of God because He helped them overcome.

Are you an over-comer? Are you always ready to celebrate?

Assignment: Share the Good News of Jesus Christ with others. Plan to invite at least 7 people to attend your next Sunday service. Write down the names of all you invite, keep in touch with them.

May 26th: God said it. - You did not prevail because you were so smart or powerful or because you had a lot of money, but because God said it is done and you have already won.

Do you ever place your confidence in your abilities instead of God?

Assignment: Read, write down and mediate on Ephesians 2: 8-10, which tells us that “ it is by grace that we have been saved, not by ourselves.” Express your gratitude by figuring out a way to serve God’s people. If you are not activity participating in a ministry to build God’s kingdom, seek God for direction and allow Him to lead you where He would have you serve.

May 25th: He who overcomes will inherit it all. - He who overcomes will inherit it all. But you have to overcome it. It does not matter how much you pray, sing, dance or how many times you come to church. You still have to go through certain situations in order to overcome them. If you are not ashamed to admit that you have overcome some challenges then you know that you did not overcome them by yourself.

What situations would you rather avoid? Do you believe that you will miss an important lesson?

Assignment: The Bible records God promises that those who over come will receive the certain blessings. Review and study chapters one through three of the Book of Revelation. See if you can find those blessings. When you do, write them down. *Hint: there are at least six.

May 24th: It Is Done. - There are three more words that He gave us. In verse six of the 21st chapter of Revelation He said, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.” Nobody can stop what God has said to you. Nobody can avoid it and nobody can destroy it. So you don’t have to spend any more time driving yourself halfway crazy thinking about tomorrow. You are going to make it. You are going to be a winner.

Do you feel like a winner because God is on your side? Are you excited about tomorrow because of God’s promises?

Assignment: Stop everything that you are doing and give God praise for giving you victory.

May 23rd: Look Back. - Write everything down because at the end of whatever you went through or are going through it is going to be worth it. There are some things you regret while going through but when you get on the other side, you can look back at the situation and say, “Lord, it was worth it because the blessing on the other side far outweighs the trial. So write it down.

Are there things that you should have written down before?

Assignment: Do not let any more time pass. Reflect on your past and write down your reflections. Is there anything you regret? If there are regrets, write them down and add how you would do things differently if given the chance.

May 22nd: You Can Count on it. - If God says that He is going to take care of you, then He will. If He promises to bless you, then you will be blessed. If He has on His agenda to heal and deliver you, then you will be healed and delivered. You do not need the government to assist you or issue you a bailout or stimulus package. All you need to do is write it down and believe it in your heart and it will come to pass.

What are you counting on God to do? Did He promise to heal your illness? Are you awaiting a job offer?

Assignment: List all of the promises that you are waiting on God to fulfill. Today, begin praising God for those promises before they come to pass.

May 21st: Trustworthy and True. - Truthfulness is a characteristic attributed to God. Unlike people who tell us what they think we want to hear for a myriad of reasons, God tells us the truth. God does not nor can not lie. The Bible tells us that all of Gods words and right and true. God does not change His mind or break his promises. We can have complete assurance that God will supply all we need.

Is trustworthiness a friend’s greatest virtue? Are there others?

Assignment: What are some other characteristics attributed to God? Write them down and try to imitate them.

May 20th: A Close Miracle. - You are closer to your miracle than you have ever been. You realize that now is not the time for you to throw in the towel and give up. Now is not the time for you to turn back and run or pull back because He is doing something special with your life.

Do you see miracles every day?

Assignment: In a prayer write down and thank God for the miracles that have touched your life. Use this list as a personal testimony.

May 19th: Happy Anyhow. - Be happy even if you don’t have anything to show for it. Your happiness should not be wrapped up the things you have or your ability to get what you want. If there is no relationship with God, the accumulation of material things will not give you peace in the midst of a storm. True happiness comes from a personal relationship with God.

What makes you happy? Does your happiness come from God or someone or something else?

Assignment: Ask yourself if you are happiness.  Prayerfully and honestly search yourself to find out  from where your happiness is derived. List all of the things that bring you happiness. Share this list with a close friend or family member.

May 18th: A New Thing. - It’s written in the Bible that God is doing a new thing in our lives so that we will smile in the midst of our heartache.

What new things are happening in your life? Has God given you a new order?

Assignment: Take out a sheet of paper. On one side, write down the old order of your life down on a piece paper and on the other side list the new order as well.

May 17th: Do not be deceived. - The devil will tell you that it is over for you. He will make you think that there is nothing to live for and fool you into thinking that your sorrow is just the beginning and that your situation is never going to get better. The devil’s task is to keep you from reaching your potential in God. The devil is full of deceit and lies all of which are designed to trip you into thinking that God has abandon you and is not concern with your welfare.

Do you feel like your life is going nowhere? Does it seem as if things will never change?

Assignment: As you travel throughout the day, take note of nature. Just a few days ago, the grass and trees where brown. Now they are green and have new life. Write down your observations and know that God will restore you as well.

May 16th: The best is yet to come. - He wants to bring out the best in you and bring His promises to your life. God has a master plan in store for you that is going blow your mind.

Are you excited about God’s plan for your life?

Assignment: Set aside time today where you can completely devote your attention to God. Thank Him for what he is about to do in your life.

May 15th: God is thinking about you. - God has you on His mind. God is thinking about you and is concerned about you. With you on His mind, God created a plan that would give you ultimate victory over everything that touches your life.

Is God on your mind? Do your plans include Him?

Assignment: Start today incorporating God's plan into your plans. Write these plans down.

May 14th: There is nothing better. - The Word of God is better than any love song or rap song. It is better than a poem, cross-the-counter drink or chemical substance. Nothing can comfort you like Jesus. Nothing or no one can fill you with love, joy and peace.

Do you treat God and His Word as if there is nothing better than Him? Do you put other things before your relationship with God?

Assignment: What do you depend on to help you make it through the day? Write down whatever that is. If you are fortunate and it is the Word of God, write a prayer thanking God for this blessing and that he will continue to keep you. If you wrote anything other than the Word of God, write a prayer thanking God for allowing you to be honest with yourself and Him, and ask that God will remove whatever it is and give to you the strength to stand on His Word.

May 13th: No more Tears. - In the 21st chapter of Revelation, verse 4 we find this promise: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes.” You should write this down and put it on your mirror so that you can read it whenever you check out your appearance.

Do you see sadness when you look in the mirror? Do you feel hope?

Assignment: If you have not already done so, write down a few of your favorite scriptures and place them on your mirror so that you can focus on them every day.

May 12th: God’s Plan. - God’s plan for your life is really quite simple. His plans are to help you and not harm you. God’s plan do not include snare and gimmicks to trip you up, but in all things to bring you into a closer relationship with Him.

Do you know God’s plan for you?

Assignment: On a piece of paper or index card write down John 3:16 and place it on your refrigerator. Be thankful every time you read it. “For God so loved the world (me) that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever (if I) believes in shall not perish but have eternal life.”

May 11th: In Times like This. - There are some people crying because they cannot find a job and do not know what’s going to happen tomorrow. There are others crying because their homes are in foreclosure and they are not sure whether they are going to be homeless or not. People are crying because the storms of life have knocked them from side to side and they are overwhelmed. They are crying, but when they pick up the Bible and read what God says it will wipe all tears from their eyes. In times like this, write it down.

Do you have hopes and dreams? Does it feel like you will never reach them?

Assignment: Read, write down and mediate on Romans 8: 31- 37, which tells us, among other things that, “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

May 10th: No One Understands. - You may ask yourself over and over again “what did I do to deserve this illness or why am I in so much pain.” You feel as if no one understands and that you are going this all alone. God understands and God is not insensitive to your illness.

Do you feel like you are alone in your situation? Does no one around you understand what’s going on in your life?

Assignment: Read, write down and mediate on 2 Corinthians 12: 9-10, which tells us that His grace is sufficient.

May 9th: God hates tears. - God hates tears, sadness and sorrow, so write it down because if you live long enough someone is going to make you cry. Just as the blessings of Christ follow through our lives so does the suffering of Christ. Faith in God and Jesus Christ does not exempt you from tears, sadness or sorrow.

Do you want a deeper relationship with God? Do you get it by suffering as Christ suffered?

Assignment: Write down the things that make you sad. Resolve today to no longer hide your feeling. Pray to God to send you a confidant.

May 8th: The Word of God is Your Foundation. - For any building to weather a storm, it must have a strong foundation. Plans are written down, studied and tested to ensure the building's safety and longevity. God’s plan to help us in that junction of life when you are hurt can be found in His Word, go back and read it.

What or who is your foundation? Is it rocky? Is it steady?

Assignment: Analyze your life. Draw a picture of yourself standing on a platform. In the platform write down all of the people, places and things that make up your foundation.

May 7th: God loves to heal - You should write it down because scripture talks about God’s view of human pain. It talks about how God loves to heal what has humanly been hurt.

Did you know that God hates to see you in pain or hurt, but sometimes that is the only way to get our attention?

Assignment: Write a prayer to God expressing how you feel. Tell him all you are going through and express confidence that He has not left you. As your healing takes place write it down!

May 6th: Life Changing - You need to write things down because this written record is going to help you in life. It’s important to write down plans, events, situations, circumstances that touch your life.

Can you imagine if the Bible had not been written down? Where would you go for instruction, where would you go for inspiration or where would you go for comfort? How would you know what God’s plan is for your life?

Assignment: What areas in your life need to be strengthened? Write them down. Then, using the concordance found in the back of your Bible, prayerfully search for scripture for God’s answer to those areas.

May 5th: Writing is Therapeutic. - We are commanded to write it down because when you write something down you give consideration to the spelling, grammar and legibility, and as a result, you internalize it. Writing down your thoughts, issues and concerns is therapeutic. Often times when you write them down a way to resolve them can be found.

What do you allow to influence who you are? Are you influenced by worldly values?

Assignment: Review God’s promises you wrote down from Revelation 21:37-7. For today take one of those promises and mediate on it.

May 4th: Write it down - The Bible didn’t tell us to tape it. In ancient or olden times, they did not have electronic devices, so taping was not an option. We spend a lot of money on our sound equipment, but have you ever wondered what would happen if the power went out? The Bible commands us to write it down. Do not use the computer and put it on a floppy disk or a flash drive because your computer could become infected by a virus or locked down by a code and rendered inaccessible. There are no substitutes for the Word of God. Your future is way too important to rely on man or technology.

What substitutes are you using for the Word of God?

Assignment: Write down all of the substitutes that you use instead of the Word of God. Pray for God to help you cast all of your cares upon Him.

May 3rd: Pay Attention to Wisdom - In the Old Testament we hear the command of God to hear, give ear and pay attention to, as demonstrated in the Book of Proverbs, where we are told to “hear the instructions of your father. Pay attention to the wisdom that the father passes on to the younger generation.” (Proverbs 23:12-13)

Do you use the Bible to direct your path and help you make the right choices? Do you find comfort in its infinite wisdom? Are you paying attention to what God is saying to you?

Assignment: In your notebook, in a paragraph or less, write down where you feel you are spiritually. In a second paragraph, list how you will use the Bible to help you grow wise.

May 2nd: A Strong Command - In Revelation 21: 3-7, there is a strong command to those who read it. It is imperative and yet it is not complex or difficult. The simple command given to us in the latter section of verse five tells us to write it down.

How often do you express yourself in writing? Do you find that your best prayers are written?

Assignment: List five ways that you apply the command to “write it down” provided in Revelation 21:3-7 to your life.

May 1st: A Promise from He who seats on the Throne - Revelation 21: 5 tells us, “He who was seated on the throne said I am making everything new. Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."

God’s promises are true! Do you believe God’s promises as recorded in Revelation 21: 3-7?

Assignment: Read Revelation 21: 3-7 in which John records several promises God makes to you and to me. In a notebook, write down the promises found in the passage.
